The Silesian language (Silesian: ślůnsko godka, ślůnski, sometimes also pů našymu) is a language spoken by people in the Upper Silesia region in Poland, but also in Czech Republic and Germany. In 2002 about 56 000 declared Silesian as their native language, but the number of speakers is estimated on 1 250 000.

Silesian is closely related to Polish language, that’s why it is considered as a dialect of Polish by some linguistics.

Alphabet

There’s not one Silesian alphabet. The Silesian speakers are used to write their language with the Polish characters. In 2006 was invented the new Silesian alphabet, based on all of the Silesian scripts (there’s 10 of them). It is widely used on the Internet, as well as in the Silesian Wikipedia.

Template for writing Mongolian

Hi, I am creating a small template for writing Mongolian at en:wp, en:Template:MoB. I think it works now, but the code is quite complicated, and I think it could be much simpler.

The basic idea was to just create a table with one column and border=0, cellspacing=0, cellpadding=0. The one column of this table would contain images of Mongol bichig letters (one per column) so that they look like one word. Unfortunately, this did not seem to work in Internet explorer, as Wikipedia apparently allows only a certain minimum height for images for users of Internet Explorer (about as high as one row). If images get smaller (lower), whitespace is added, and this makes what should be written as one word break apart.

I worked around this with the help of div style = "position:" stuff, but I think this makes the template unnecessary complicated and unflexible to use for longer words. Do you happen to have an idea how to allow abitrarily small images for IE users on WP?

If you do, can you make an exception and answer on my talk page on english wp? I am not that active on Mongolian wp. Best regards, Yaan 15:30, 21 Дөрөвдүгээр сар 2009 (UTC)

Translation request for Шалом.

Could you translate the article Шалом. There is already an article about Şalom, a Jewish weekly newspaper in Turkey, not in Mongolian but in English, but could you check it and translate it from the other Wikipedia language sites, if you have the time and patience to do so. The reason is that the newspaper Şalom is written (alas one page only) in a highly endangered language called Ladino or Judeo-Spanish, the Spanish of the 15th century. Perhaps this might gain your interest and sympathy.

The Book of Mormon is a sacred text of the Latter Day Saint movement. Wall of Chinggis Khaan

Dear Chineeb, I hope to visit your country in summer 2011 for the first time. I would like to visit, among other sights, the "Wall of Chinggis Khaan" (Chinggisiin Zam) in the North of Dorog Aimag. Hi there! To tell you the truth, i've never heard of the place. There is a multitude of places in Mongolia with the suffix "-of Chinggis Khan", when there is not much evidence to support the claim, so it probably isnt that interesting. Anyway, a good travel book for Mongolia is "Fifty Routes Through Mongolia: A Guide for Tourists" by Sh.Shagdar, although I've only used the Mongolian version. Wikimedia Mongolia?

Hello! Welcome! Any plans to discuss about the establishment of Wikimedia chapter in your country? This will help the Mongols to contribute.

The projects of the proposed Wikimedia chapter are:

Majority:

1. Mongolian Wikipedia and Wiktionary: the main projects of the proposed chapter.

Minority:

1. Buryat Wikipedia: currently a project of Wikimedia Russia, will be also contributed by Wikimedia Mongolia due to some Buryats living in Mongolia.
2. Kazakh Wikipedia: the main project of proposed Wikimedia Kazakhstan, will also become a relevant project of proposed Wikimedia Mongolia due to the Kazakh majority living in Bayan-Ölgii province.

If there are any Mongolic languages spoken in Mongolia, this will be a part of Wikimedia Mongolia.

Article translation request

G'day Revi, I noticed that you recently created Монголын Иргэний Агаарын Тээвэр on Mongolian Wikipedia. Fantastic! I hope that this airline with a rich history will see it's article on Mongolian wikipedia expanded in the future.

I have an article in my userspace at User:Russavia/Polandball that I am wanting to try and get translated into Mongolian. Might you be able to help with this? Any assistance you might be able to provide with translating this article into Mongolian, would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't help personally with this, perhaps you can help me to find an editor who can help with the translation?

In return for a translation of the article, I would be happy to upload to Commons a range of photos from different sources relating to Mongolian aviation - this would include both civil and military aviation, including airports, MIAT, Eznis Airways, Mongolian Airlines, Aero Mongolia, etc. Perhaps 50-60 photos? I have access to some 200,000 aviation photos for uploading to Commons, so there will be some nice photos from Mongolia there which I can upload, which will help Mongolian aviation editors, either now, or in the future.

Any editor is free to edit the article in my userspace, and then once complete, it can be moved to Polandball.

I have already begun to upload some photos relating to Mongolian aviation, which you can see at User:Russavia. As you can see many of these articles need to be created, and I hope by uploading them, I can encourage editors on Mongolian Wikipedia to write and to expand these articles.
